Smooth Away Fine Lines. Look Like You, Only Refreshed.

What Is Botox?

Botox is one of the most trusted and widely performed aesthetic treatments in the world — and for good reason. With over two decades of FDA approval and hundreds of peer-reviewed studies behind it, Botox remains the gold standard for softening expression lines, preventing new wrinkles, and refreshing your overall appearance without altering what makes you, you.

At Luma Medical Aesthetics & Wellness Clinic, Botox is administered with the precision of a clinician who understands facial anatomy at its deepest level. Dr. Marvin Chan’s background in restorative dentistry means every injection is placed with expert awareness of muscle structure, facial balance, and the subtleties that separate natural results from overdone ones.

Most treatments take just 10 to 15 minutes, require no anesthesia, and involve no downtime. Many of our clients come in on their lunch break and walk out looking refreshed, rested, and entirely themselves.

What Can Botox Treat?

Botox at Luma can address a wide range of cosmetic and functional concerns, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines between the brows (the “11s”)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Brow lifting
  • Lip lines and the lip flip
  • Gummy smile correction
  • Jaw slimming (masseter reduction)
  • TMJ discomfort and teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Neck bands (platysma)
  • Hyperhidrosis (excess sweating)

Whether you’re treating existing lines or taking a preventative approach in your 20s or 30s, Botox can be precisely customized to meet you exactly where you are.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals to targeted facial muscles. When those muscles can’t contract, the overlying skin appears smoother and more relaxed. The effect is always temporary — muscles gradually regain movement as nerve terminals regenerate — which means results can be adjusted, refreshed, or discontinued at any time.

Results begin to appear within three to five days and reach their full effect at around two weeks. On average, Botox lasts three to four months. With consistent treatment over time, many clients find that muscle activity naturally decreases, allowing for longer intervals between appointments.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your Botox appointment at Luma begins with a brief consultation to discuss your goals and map out a precise treatment plan. We’ll identify exactly which muscles to target to achieve your desired outcome — natural-looking softness, specific line reduction, or functional relief.

The injections themselves take only minutes. A fine needle delivers small amounts of Botox into the targeted areas — most clients describe the sensation as a slight pinch that lasts only a second. No numbing cream is required for most clients, though we’ll always accommodate your comfort preferences.

You can apply makeup and return to your normal routine immediately following treatment. We recommend avoiding vigorous exercise and not rubbing the treated area for 12 hours.

Botox for TMJ — A Dental Medspa Advantage

One of the most meaningful advantages of receiving Botox at a dental medspa is the ability to address jaw-related concerns with clinical precision. Botox injected into the masseter muscle can significantly reduce jaw tension, teeth grinding, TMJ-related pain, and jaw clenching — all concerns that a general med spa may address cosmetically but that Dr. Chan approaches with the full context of your dental health.

If you’re a patient at Aspire Dental Spa managing bruxism or TMJ dysfunction, a conversation about therapeutic Botox is a natural next step.
